Engine light after EGR disconnected- ASZ engine

Featured Replies

Just took off my egr to clean it out and what a pain it was to get those lower bolts out, not keen to have to remove it again for cleaning in the future so disconnected the vacuum hose and blocked it off hoping all would be well. The engine management light comes on straight away saying exhaust gas recirculation insufficient flow or something similar. Wondering if theres a way in VCDS to disable the egr Ive seen something about turning its operation down.

I know theres loads of threads on it on here but found lots of conflicting information so thought Id see if anyone could shed some light on it

Worth reading as a starting point:-

Looks a bit 'scary' to me considering I dont want to mess up anything in the engine management system. Guess I'll have to find someone who can map the EGR out for me then.

Thanks for that though

Do the elephant mod, that way it won't get dirty again and you can reconnect it and enjoy increased reliability and everyone else can enjoy decreased emissions.

Already done it, its the flat spot down low and the smoke I seem to get which makes me want to delete it.

Theres still loads of oil in the pipework even though ive done the hose and cleaned the boost pipes. Guessing its all in the intercooler and I really need to clean that out.

Yes, the intercooler will be chock full of oil, the modded EGR gasket trick usually helps fix the flat spot.
