Citigo manual gearbox sensor

Featured Replies

Does anybody know what the sensor is for that is located on the top of the differential housing, specifically above the offside driveshaft?

And how does the ECU know what gear is selected, is there a sensor on the gear linkage?

Thanks in advance.

Can't really help with the sensor on the gearbox housing. Reverse gear or neutral sensor would be my guess.

The selected gear indicator is simply derived from the road speed and engine speed by simple maths in the ECU. Gear indicator only displays when you let the clutch out and the car is moving.

According to the diagram on ETKA the reversing light switch is on the switch housing on the top of the gearbox and the neutral sensor pokes out of the side of the end case.

Cheers Ronime, thanks for that.

The sensor I was thinking about was on the top of the differential casing, the tapered side outputting to the n/s (left) wheel.

I had thought roadspeed/distance measurement, but I'm assured these come from each of the four wheel speed sensors.

Regards Snaefell.
