2010 Yeti 1.2 TSI petrol smell. Filter?

Featured Replies

Hi all just got a smell of petrol near Yeti offside rear....quick look indicates a weep around what I think could be a petrol filter.  It is just beside the tank near front of tank with pipes at each end....too dirty to see much detail at quick look.  it is a round object about 2 inch diameter and 3 inches long, white.  Is it easy to change? anything to look out for? How are the fuel lines held on?  How is it fitted to the car?

What would make it leek....vibration cracking plastic?

Also will fuel start to drain out of tank if filter taken off (Quarter of a tank of fuel at moment)?

Hi all.  Took car to garage in the end and it turned out to be the filter leaking due to corrosion on body.....just a tiny pinprick at most.  Filter is held in place in a plastic pinch bracket by one screw which has a very corse screw thread.....fortunately not corroded otherwise would have been a bit more difficult to get off.  Has been put back with good greasing round screw.

Numbers on old filter = VW logo....1K0201051C.     On other side UFI 31840oo and 4LS made in China.

Have not got the bill yet from local garage.
