could not refuel car

Featured Replies

Hello all,

3 weeks ago with tank just under half full (I know it was really about this level as it is used for a 90K return commute ever day) I went to local shell garage to fill up as we were gonna be taking a visiting friend for tour around Switzerland next day. After inserting nozzle the pump started and immediately/automatically stopped. Tried it a few more times with the same result and on last time attempt a small amount of diesel bubbled up around nozzle and then drained back in after a while, it just would not accept any more fuel. So next morning as we were setting off on our trip I went to same garage and same pump and this time it filled  to the brim without.

I saw a discussion on the octavia forum I think it was, with similar happenings with Octavia and Yeti but without and real resolution, any thoughts please?

Thanks,

Mick

The only one that springs to mind is either the anti-misfuel (if fitted to these cars) or anti-syphon device not working correctly and preventing fuel flow?

I had this issue once with the Octavia RS Diesel. something like 2 years ago. Never happened again, could not find the cause.

Thanks for the responses guys,

Hopefully it won't happen again for me as well :-) but I'll do some further digging into the suggestions of what could have caused it from FelisB and as I have a notification for an oil change in 2000km will ask the dealer if anti-misfuel and anti-syphon are fitted.

Cheers,

Mick
