Skoda Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi,

I lease my Yeti.

I was told that all the servicing is recorded online now and that there is no service book that gets stamped.

Does that mean you have to take it to a main dealer to get serviced? or can you use any garage for servicing?

Thanks in advance

Jason

Welcome.

Read the T&C's of your lease and anything on the servicing that you require to do.

If it is just to 'Service as per Manufacturers Schedule / Guidelines' then using an Independent will be OK, and you will need to keep the Invoices as a record.

If you use a Independent that has all the gear for diagnosis and the licencing they should have Skoda TPI's, Software Updates etc, so check that out.

This is important as far as the Warranty & checks, the lease might require Body Inspections which a Main Dealer should do at servicing as part of the service.

There is no official service book as main dealer service records are held online.

In addition though, my dealership has been perfectly happy to provide hard copy evidence of all work carried out which I keep in my Yeti file at home (with purchase receipt, warranties, V5C, Insurance Certificate, Driving Licence etc)

An independent is most likely to give you a hard copy invoice for work done anyway.

You can also by a generic service book into which you/dealer/garage can attach/record details of your own choosing.

SORRY - forgot what I was told at school more than half a century ago.   Read the question twice before you start your answer!

I should have noted ' lease car' , so apologies if my responses are not specific to your situation.

As above, no you don't get a Service Book anymore and all the records are held at a central source, however you will get a worksheet and report from the dealer when you have the car serviced, so that can be kept.

And does the owner of the vehicle have direct access to the electonic service record for their own vehicle? If so, what is the link? And where is the list of service intervals for all items as we used to see in the service book?

Seems to me that without a service book to refer to, Skoda must take responsibility for all items being done, eg dsg oil change, Haldex oil change etc, unless they have a record of the vehicle owner specifically declining that service item.

Eg if i get my car put onto the variable service schedule, that would mean it goes in at around 18 and 36k miles. It is therefore essential that I am advised of the need for a fixed interval oil change to the dsg at 40k, and I believe the Haldex is at 30K?

If I take it in at 36k and am not advised of the dsg oil change need to possibly do now, or come back in 4k the garage must be to blame?

Can't say I have seen anything in the handbook about this to replace what used to be clear in the defunct service book.

Read the post of a member recently with DSG failure.

Do not count on Main Dealership employees telling you your DSG is due an Oil Change or the Haldex is at 40,000 miles, or the Brake Fluid needs changing at 3 years

to adhere to Manufacturer Servicing Schedule / Guidelines to preserve a Warranty.

Because that might well not happen even if you have a Service Plan.
