Samco tip fitting

Featured Replies

Well I finally got myself a samco tip, the metal ones were a bit expensive (mortgage, wife, kids, shopping etc) :thumbdwn: and I am due to fit it on saturday morning with a very competant mate of mine with a large snap on toolbox, and we have access to a ramp and all garage equipment

But here's the thing, I have heard the stories of how much of a bast...twa.....fu.... er pain they are to fit at the turbo end especially, so can anyone with previous knowledge of doing it give me any tips or things to watch out for?

Come on don't be shy :)

P.S does anyone know how to remove the 3rd brakelight assembly?

When i fitted mine, the hardest part was getting it onto the turbo, it's a very tight squeeze and a pain to get your arm up to it. However with plenty of WD40 and elbow work it will go on. Just be careful not to get any WD inside the turbo. It took me 45mins to do mine, and i was on my own. Good luck:thumbup:

No problem

Brake light-i think these is a clip either side that you press in,maybe 1 in the middle as well?

For those that have the Samco / Forge silicone TIP - what difference does it make to the performance of the car?

Along with a remap I am thinking of getting one of these fitted and was wondering about the benefits over the standard one.

Cheers

The effect of fitting TIP can be thought of like this......imagine a water hose with a kink in it...now unkink it.

You should get improved response as the tubo will spool quicker. Also with the TIP being silicone there is less chance of pipe collapse as with the original rubber section from the MAF to the metal TIP.

Thanks guys! just an update, fitted tip today:cool: my mate Tony is very good with the spanners!!! Fitted in 55min with little hasstle (I MUST STRESS THIS IS NOT MY SKILL I AM TALKING ABOUT) he's a petrol head with an evo 8 and a gift. thats enough of that now.:o

As I say it is fitted and she has a louder spool up sound and seems quick, tested on my private track over the M18 bridge, but the dv seems to echo now  but, like preparation H its money well spent on the hole!:D

What dv have you fitted,or is it oem?...also which TIP did you buy?Does it say forge or samco forge on the pipe?
