Update Amundsen - Apple iMac Computer

Featured Replies

Anyone updated the maps on their Amundsen Satnav using an Apple mac? I have downloaded the files from Skoda and dragged them into a new folder. Their are two files in the download - first is a txt file (617 kb) the second is a file called "maps" which contains several folders and sub-folders of maps. Size is approx 14 Gb.

Their was nothing to "extract" as the instructions stated, file just dragged to the new folder without any changes.

I would welcome advice from anyone who has done this before - don't want to mess up the Skoda SD!.

When you do the download it should say unpack to the SD card.
Make sure you get a backup of the Map SD card first.

1 Enter VIN on download site and download update

2Unzip and save to desktop in New Folder call it Maps 2017

3Remove skoda SD card from car and insert into card reader on laptop

4Open card and drag contents to desktop in New Folder call it Maps 2016 ...contingency backup

5Format Skoda SD card

6Drag contents of Maps 2017 to SD Card

7Insert SD Card into sat nav....wait to load

8Delete Folder Maps 2016.

Job done.

Hmmm, I have downloaded update but didn't see anything about unpacking or unzipping to new folder. I created a folder and simply dragged the download into the new folder. That's where I could see the 2 files I described. If I delve down into the "Maps" file I can eventually see each country - including UK - as a separate file within the Maps folder.

A bit nonplussed now!

Incidentally do you need to format the Skoda SD card (what format did you use), can't you just empty by dragging into contents to the trash?

I just do a quick format, only takes a few seconds, if letting the download do it it asks whether to delete all data on card.

Use ExFAT to format.

Have just taken SD Card out of car and put into card reader and taken screenshot of contents

I am planning to do this very job this week with my new Yeti.  I am not sure if I have Bolero or Amundsen from just looking at them - any tips on how to identify them?

Sorry I don't know...I have a two month old SE Drive which has Amundsen sat nav .

I'm sure others on this or dedicated Yeti site will be only too happy to advise you.

Regards

Put your VIN into the link below and see if the map download is available for your car.
If you have sat-nav it's an Amundsen, also if car was built after October 2014 you will qualify for the free map update.

Having collected our Yeti last week, thought I would check the Sat nav SD card. Says 2017/18 so is this the latest version?

Also, when updating via laptop, does one retain the saved destinations?

Okay - I have mounted Skoda (No name) SD card onto computer and dragged the maps file to a back-up folder. Problem now is that I can't erase - reformat the card. Everytime I try I get a message saying "Erase process has failed Click done to continue", also image of SD card has a red ! over it in the window.

Tried several times and still get same message. Anyone any ideas?

More problems, now when I put the ~SD card into the computer I get a message saying "the disc you inserted is unreadable by this computer" Now truly in the ****. Anyone able to help or advice?

Is the SD Card locked ?

My version says ece1 2017/2018. Is this the latest as on the portal it gives an ece 2017/2018 and a ece2 2017/2018. Quite confusing!

No.

If you put unlocked SD Card into card reader and use Disk Utility to erase using ExFAT it will work.

Thanks - the problem I had was that after trying to reformat the computer would not recognise the card at all. In desperation I reformatted the card in my camera then transferred back to the computer, computer recognised it then I used Disc Utility to reformat the card to ExFAT, seemed to go okay and got 'green tick". Am now reloading the new maps from the folder I saved the downloaded maps to. Fingers crossed and it works now??

Hi...glad you are getting there in the end...let us know when new maps loaded and working.

Success! All loaded and remounted into Amundsen unit. A little wait but then everything came up and I could input new routes as well as recalling previously saved routes.

Thanks for your help, not sure where it all went wrong and hope it goes more smoothly next time.
