1.9 sdi engine revving

Featured Replies

Hi there i wonder if anyone can help me with a bizarre problem on my fabia 1.9 sdi. After driving the car for a few miles and switching off the engine when i re-start the engine blips the revs twice from idle to 1300 then after moving away the idle will remain at 1100 for about 2 minutes. The temp gauge is very slow to move in cold weather but is fine in the summer. The coolant is getting hot as the heater blows hot air with the gauge still on cold.Coul it be the coolant temp sensor has a deadspot and this is sending a false signal to the ecu i have carried out a fault code read and no faults found.I am an HGV mechanic and have struggled to sort this.

Problem solved faulty coolant temp sender send a signal to the ECU buy a genuine skoda one not a pattern part as they appear to have the wrong values.

Dude,

I had an sdi fabia before my tdi. The standard dieseld do take a good while to warm up and even now on my tdi i get hot hair out of vents bore engine temp gauge even moveds. I have been told by my dealership that it is just the fact that it is a diesel engine and they all do take a while. I always found just give the engine a few revs before you start off does really help.

I know this dont answer your question but thats what experience i had with it.

I had a similar problem with my SDi under warranty, it was the temp sensor. Causes it to idle funny.. I could be in neutral at some traffic lights and the car would idle up on it's own...
