Sorry to resurrect this old tread, however I'm hoping that maybe here I may get some advice on MFSW.

The Citigo and Octavia are very different electrically so I doubt anything in this thread will help.

If the pin is missing, you probably need to replace the BCM. Might be worth posting on ross-tech forum assuming you have genuine VCDS.

BCM are pretty much the same across VAG vehicles (correct me if I'm wrong), although installation will be different.

Replacing BCM wouldn't be an issue although finding the right one won't be that easy.

It is an idea however I'm not sure if they will be able to help as they only provide software support, I think.

On a PQ35/46 car (Octavia), the MFSW connects to the steering wheel control module and it'll send CAN messages when buttons are pressed. The BCM is not involved... To retrofit a MSFW, it'll typically need a new steering wheel controller as per this list: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions

As you've noticed, on a PQ25 (Citigo), the MFSW connects to the BCM (via the clockspring) as there is no steering wheel control module (address 16). It's down to the BCM to send the CAN messages when buttons are pressed so it'll need to support the MFSW.

Even if rosstech can't offer advice, plenty of the forum users are very knowledgeable when it comes to retrofits and might be able to help. Otherwise, you could take a look at the Polo as it's also PQ25?

Indeed, my module is a PQ25. So, I stand corrected on that aspect.

My retrofit was inspired not only by my dad citigo but also based on the Polo how-to-guide as they do share similar, let's say, technology.

The problem I'm facing at the moment, I'm quite sure there are knowledgeable people out there but it appears that for some reason they prefer to keep their knowledge to themselves.

There was someone on the vw up! or maybe here in the citigo's section, who have done this mod but I can't find it now...

I will follow your advice and I will try ross-tech forum.

Many thanks for directing me towards new possibilities ;)

Pretty rubbish your garage are using a cloned/pirated VCDS cable...

Might be worth PM'ing a local member to ask if they can do an autoscan for you with a legit cable. Couple of threads that might help you find someone:

Closest to Heathrow who has been online recently is probably @bspman

Eh, the garage is good. Never had any problems with them when it came to any repairs on my old VW Polo. Have to admit, that I'm quite disappointed with the fact that as a legitimate business they prefer using a cloned/pirated VCDS. What can I do.

I will try sending PM to @bspman hopefully it will be a fresh start to my enquiry on ross-tech.

Seen the PM and responded. Happy to help.

Once again, many thanks for your time and your help. And it was a pleasure to meet you in person.

Pleasure to meet you too. Hopefully the scan will help :)

Also - nice Skoda motorsport jacket!
