I've only had my VRS a week, probs already!!

Featured Replies

Ive had it one week tomorrow and its already been back to skoda once who failed to fix either fault. Here they are - any ideas welcome.

1) The gearbox. When its warm the stick is "sloppy" and doesnt spring to neutral. By this i mean that if you put it in neutral and hold the stick to the left or right and let go it doesnt spring back to the middle. It just stays where it is. Makes some gear changes feel awkward.

2) My wipers. Sometimes they work sometimes they dont. If you start the car and flick them on, they move maybe an inch then stop. Nothing happens when u move the wiper to control stick. However when you pop the bonnet they work again! I noticed today that theres some kind of microswitch located at the bottom of the bonnet catch. Could this be the culprit? Its an intermittent fault.

Its going back in tues to get these things fixed i hope. Im going to have a look at this sensor tomorrow and also spray all the linkages with WD40 to see if thats a problem. If anyones got any similar experiences post them here!

Cheers

Andy:

Best thing is to take it back, if they cant fix it this time contact Skoda UK and suggest you want to reject the car if it's not fixed.

As for what it might be the fabia's wipers dont work if the boot is open slightly maybe the sensor on your octavia is fault, but I'm sure the dealer would have tested that.

no they did nothing. They said they changed the relay but i dont believe them. Prob them is - if i reject the car i have to take another of the same price and there are no other VRS's for the same price. Im going to check out this bonnet sensor tomorrow.

Cheers

I'm guessing the gearstick issue could just be a damaged or missing return spring ? I've had this happen on other makes of car before. Mind you, if it doesn't do it from cold as well, could indicate something more serious. Good luck !

Yes its defiently only from cold. Its going into skoda tomorrow, and its a good 20 miles there. Should be plenty of time for the box to heat up so i can show them the problem. Does anyone know what the sensor is at the bottom of the bonnet catch?
