Well, I have just had a stainless steel exhaust made and fitted last Friday by Tony Banks of Leeds. I did not want too much noise, but a nice tone would be nice, so I went for the mild sport exhaust note. It's got a great burble on tick over and I am generally pleased with the overall sound. The only thing I did not want was booming inside the car, I am old after all. Between 3-4k revs it does boom a bit, but I am getting used to it. Tony does give a great service at a good price. An example of this was when I rang him up when I got home telling him about the 3-4k revs noise. He said the tone will change in the next 1k miles, but if I am not happy, bring it back and he will sort it for free. Can't get better than that eh. Anybody else had an exhaust like this and found the exhaust tone changes over a period of time? 

I found both my resinated and non-res Millteks tones changed and got louder over time.

I have a Tony Banks turbo back exhaust and found there was a drone at about 70mph.  I went back and he built & fitted me a new back box for free which was amazing.  It's much better now and there's still a bit of extra noise at 70mph, but I figured that it's a performance exhaust and it isn't going to be as quiet as OEM at motorway speeds.  I'm more than happy with the system and the service from Tony Banks is extremely good.

As for Baileydog's comment, I'd agree.  Mine has mellowed but is a bit in tone and it seems to be a deeper noise than when first fitted.

Thanks for the reply's guys. What I should have added is that at a steady throttle between 3-4 k revs, it is fairly quiet. It's when you put your foot down or take it off again between those revs, that it booms inside the car. Not sure as yet whether to live with it, as I am getting used to it a little, or get it sorted by Tony. Going past Leeds in a few weeks, so I could call in and get it sorted if necessary. Hopefully like Baileydogs  Milltek system, it does not get even worse. Mind you, if it does it certainly will go back to get changed.
