Citigo 5 door Green Tech 60ps SE L Advice.

Featured Replies

Hi, This is my first post, been looking around for a week or so. We will be picking up a December 2015 65 Citigo plate next week, really looking forward to it.

Had a test drive yesterday, very impressed. The car has  only 7,150 miles on the clock. It comes from a Skoda main dealer locally.

I wonder if anyone can explain what I should expect in terms warranty?  I understand the Skoda new car warranty is for 3 years, with Skoda assist. Can anyone say if I should expect any service to the vehicle

included in the remaining manufacturers warranty period. (until December 2018). Am I right in assuming the first service is either 10,000 miles or 12 months (that timeframe has passed) or 20,000 miles

or 24 months (that will be December this year).

Many thanks.

I can't say for certain what the regime is now but when I bought my Elegance at 11 months old back in October 2017 I received a letter from Skoda UK shortly after purchase confirming that I was entitled to Skoda Assistance for the remaining two years. Warranty entitlement is implicit as long as Skoda's servicing requirements have been upheld (see below).

Service schedule is every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever is reached soonest. As mine was just over 11 months old with only 1,700 miles on the clock I got the dealer to include the first service as part of the deal.

There is no service book provided with the Citigo. The service record is held electronically but the dealer should provide you with an updated, printed copy of the service history at every service.

Insist on a copy of this for your car as the three year warranty will only be honoured if the car has been serviced according to Skoda's schedule.

Many thanks for your response. I understand from what you say that the 12/24 month service is not always included when the car is sold?

I will contact the dealer tomorrow and ask them to email me a copy of the service the  history of the car. I should think that it will have had the 12 month

service, that would have been December 2016.

Should I expect  the 24 month service (this December) to be done by the dealer automatically, or should I ask for it as part of the deal?

As you are only just over half way into the service interval and have presumably already agreed the terms of the sale, signed an order form and placed a deposit then I think that expecting a free 2nd service might be a big ask.

You certainly don't want the service done 4 or 5 months too early.

Welcome.

If you are buying a 'Skoda Approved Used Car' from a Skoda Dealer that does not mean a service will be done before you collect it if a service is not due or overdue.

Workshop Safety Checks are or should be done, and HPI etc,

but if you want servicing you need to maybe negotiate that into the price.

Many thanks to all for the information.

It is being purchased as an "Approved Used Car" having read the link provided, the 2 offers assume the car is being bought with finance.

I won't be using  finance to buy the car, does this mean I can't have 2 services @ £139?

That would be the obvious interpretation of the wording of that offer.

When you buy on finance then Skoda receive a big chunk of money from you from the interest that you pay on the loan. They can then use this income/profit to subsidise the cost of a couple of services.

You are effectively paying for the minor service (£139) which means that the value of the freebie is effectively the cost of the major service which is about £189. Unless the interest charges amount to less than £189 then you are better off paying cash and paying for the two services out of your own pocket.

Mulligrub,

Ask the Dealership by Email what you are getting, and have a reply in writing because verbal agreements are not worth the paper they are not written on.

Best to talk over what is involved in a deal and then have it on your Purchase Agreement.

I understand the Finance/service angle now.

I will ask tomorrow for a service print out.

Thank you.

Further to this, how does the electronic service book work if you opt to not have your car serviced by Skoda? Is it possible to have the electronic service book updated? Can I ask for a paper service book like I have in my SEAT?
