cannot access the onboard computer

Featured Replies

Hi

I just joined the form. I recently bought Mk2 Hatch. I tried everything but I can't get into the computer onboard. The manual says to press the end of the right stalk but that doesn't work for me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

There is a button on right stalk under which says ok reset hold that one in then it should appear on dash mine is a bit temperamental some times it works and doesn't

Thanks. I tried that as well. That doesn't work either. I'm not sure what to do.

What year and spec level is your Octavia?

I only ask as I'm pretty sure that some lower spec pre-FL models don't have a multi function dash (onboard computer) fitted.

You need to be stationary and press and hold for a few seconds for the maxi-dot menu to appear - have you tried that?

It doesn't look like a maxidot. It's only the top half screen of the middle section. The bottom is covered. It's 2007 2.0TDI Elegance.

I had a Golf 1.9TDI 2009 which had a very similar system and I was able to access it for basic settings. And it was only an S model.

I don't know enough about the pre-fl to say for certain, but I believe these images show a non maxidot cluster, with and without the onboard computer.

Without:

With:

Assuming you have the latter, then it should work as per the manual:

- the rocker on the end of the right stalk should switch which information is shown

- short pressing the button under the right stalk should switch memories (where applicable)

- long pressing the button under the right stalk should clear memories (where applicable)

If it's not working, then it's possible the stalk needs talking apart and cleaning. Might be worth finding a local member with VCDS as that might show any errors that could be causing it.

What's currently shown on the LCD between the dials, might be worth a picture? :)

Thank you. Mine is very similar. I have a slightly different layout on the screen but in general, that's what I've got.

All three options above work fine.

How can I e.g. adjust the time? How to access the settings? MFD or whatever it's called?

Thank you for that. I do have my manual. Look at page 19.

– You can activate the MAIN MENU by pressing the rocker switch ⇒ fig. 12 for more than 1 second.

That is not working for me. Is it because it's not available in this model?

Correct, the main menu is only for cars with maxidot which will be a full screen rather than half.

It would look something like this:

My 2007 Octavia has a similar problem. I can change the clock but holding it down doesnt work. Also a week ago, this happened.
