iPhone data usage.

Featured Replies

My wife has an iPhone 6, me a Motorola. I noticed today as we are at home all day and no WiFi (temp disconnected)  our phones are on data.

I've been using my phone on data, not used much at all, whilst my wife's phone seems to use quite a bit and she's hardly used the phone today. So the question is, what eats the data on an iPhone?

I've been through the settings and knocked off a few bits of what I think might be using data, what else can I look at.

Reason for the concern she hasn't got a great deal of data to use in her package, never used that much anyway when she does but the phone seems to use a good deal more than mine (android)

I have an Iphone6 and I think Data is used for apps in the background. location services, only when using the app, etc etc

Go into the apps via settings and turn things off in the apps that eat data or allow only when in the app is in use

Could it be that app updates are allowed on mobile data instead of purely wifi data?

Could be, my apps are set to update on wifi only, 99% of location services are off or only on when using the app.

There are a few things you can do to save data.  Some apps run in the background and that can be turned off

Thanks for the info, now found a setting, app refresh so disabled that too. It's already set to only update on WiFi so will give all that a test.

I found on occasion mine can fail to pick up the house wifi and that can mean a bit more use then expected.

Not sure if this is unique to Android or Samsung, but there is a setting on my S7 to connect to the optimum data connection; home WiFi or data.

Even when just a few metres away from the VM router, I can be on 4G as the signal is stronger. It's not a concern for me as I've just upped my data from 30Gb to unlimited for only a £3pm increase.

Is that facility available on ios, and could it be active?
