Looking for a bit of info here, I have a 2011 Vrs hatch and my GF has a dodgy old Astra estate. I'm looking for a set up that allows me to use roof bars and bike carrier, probably Thule Pro Ride on my motor then transfer the bike carrier to hers when she needs it...question is will a Thule Pro Ride bike carrier fit on basic universal bars or will they only fit on Thule bars? At the mo she has the front to back runner things and uses her brother in laws bars and roof box off his Alfa.

Assuming these bike racks (Thule ProRide) https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/bike-rack/roof-bike-racks/thule-proride-_-598001

 

In the technical spec it says:

- Fits roof racks with 20x20 mm T-tracks    
- Fits roof racks with 24x30 mm T-tracks (Adapter Required: Thule T-track Adapter 889-1)
- Fits SquareBar (Adapter Required: Thule ProRide SquareBar Adapter)

 

The Thule ProRide SquareBar adapter basically looks like a clamp so even if the universal bars are differently sized to a Thule SquareBar, I'd be surprised if you had an issue...
