18" skoda space saver wheel wanted

Featured Replies

Need a 18" space saver wheel for my 2011 Superb saloon, any advice appreciated regarding vendors etc....

The official "space saver" from Skoda is a 16" steel wheel with a 205/55/R16 94W tyre fitted. Available from dealers along with the toolkit.

I was going to buy a 16" steel wheel 5x112 for my estate, does anyone know the code for the retaining nut to hold the spare down??

Thanks chimaera, I said 18" because this is the tyre size, so a 16" wheel is the correct one for my car? thank you for the advice.

Yes, whilst the steel spare wheel is only 16" the tyre is a of a higher profile so the rolling radius remains largely the same as the 18" alloys and low profile tyres you have fitted.

Be careful here, I too had this same question last year, albeit for my 2016 Skoda Octavia.

There are quite a few different versions. You need the nut which is pretty standard, but it is the thread and the way it attaches to the body of the car which sees a few different versions across VAG cars over the years.

Having trouble getting a suitable rim never mind the retaining nut lol not paying skoda for the OEM wheel and kit

Is it the usual plastic version or the thin metal screw type?

Thank you all for your advice, I've ordered the Spare Wheel + Tyre (7.5J x 16”) – £141.40 inc.vat from local dealership, looked on e bay but most seemed worn or slightly damaged  so opted for safe choice from dealer, costlier but at least I have peace of mind now. (hopefully)

Just checking before I try fitment over weekend, is this tyre suitable??

91 load index might be too low.

Is it 92 recommended?

15kg difference

The dealer supplied tyre is a 94 rating (670 kg) which would be a 55kg difference from the 91.

Prior to the facelift, the lowest load index homologated for the 2.0 TDI was 92 for 18" rims only. Following the facelift, 91 was homologated for 16" and 17" rims.

Would it be suitable as a spare??

Brand new tyre and rim, haven't bought yet

just checked my car tyres, they are 92

That's a question you would need to ask your insurer I think. If it failed on the vehicle and caused an accident, they might take issue with the fact that it is below the manufacturer's specification. In reality, it's probably fine but it's easy for me to say when it's not my car :)

My 2014 facelift Superb poverty spec was fitted with 205/55 r16 "91" tyres from new
