USB in the rear?

Featured Replies

Not as painful as it sounds. Just wondering if the vrs245 comes with the two USB ports in the back, as standard. I had read you can only get the ports if you have heated fronts seats (which I believe the 245 has as standard), so I'm hoping... and the dealer wasn't 100% sure.

I don't believe so, Richard.  I'm sure one of the 245 owners will be along soon to confirm one way or the other.

You can only have rear USB on the 245 if you also spec rear heated seats, total cost £400!   Just not worth it for me.

Wow, in complete agreement with you there!

I'm certain you could retrofit rear USB in the same place for a fraction of that, it's what I'll be doing.

Could you let us know how you do it?

I will do, wont be getting the car until Jan though so could be a while!  :)

If you only want the ports for charging then you can buy a 12v to USB converter, which you can plug into the boot 12v socket and run through the to arm-rest compartment within the rear seats. Admittedly, not as pretty as paying £400 for official ports.

edit: this plus this should do the job.

Actually a great idea. Until Muzza80 comes up with something more elegant! Cheers

I did a tidy version of this. I ran a long USB cable from the boot charger, under the boot liner and under the rear seat so now there is a cable coming out under the seat on top of the transmission tunnel.

Looks quite tidy and works for either rear seat.
