Track day tyre pressures for tomorrow

Featured Replies

Im on the track tomorrow, forecast is for temps around zero

I wont have a pump with me so what tyre pressures do you suggest I put in at the garage today

cars an Octy 4x4. 350 bhp, tyres 215/45/17

Any of the track day regulars have a suggestion

Thanks

Stuart

suppose it depends what your going to be doing, for 0-60 and standing starts you want lower than road pressures but i'd have thought normal pressures for track use i.e. ragging round would be fine.

Stuart,

Give Jon a call...

I found mine on road at least was much nicer with 33 front and 35 rear.

Track, drop a few psi as they will climb anyway...although with the cold track temp....go with road and see, can always let a smidge out if your understeering like mad at 11am.

I'd go with 28.56 psi all round*

*Based on nothing other than the fact you'll be filling them with cold air that will then get hot in the tyre and increase the pressure to around 30psi.

You're very specific with the 28.56

any reason :)

I found that on my last track outting (in fact my last Skoda drive as it turned out) back in November it was fairly chilly then (<10

Stand in the freezing cold on an airfield with a pump, um NO (OK Im a wimp)

I spoke with Jon (thanks for the steer & he reconed 33/35 as you say

Should be fun with the 4x4 in the cold rain, mind you not as much fun as my mate will have with his 420 bhp 350Z, I can see the slides & spins already !!
