AlloyGaters (Green) on VRS

Featured Replies

My vRS estate is on order, when I get it I'm thinking of putting a set of green alloy gaters on it to keep the alloys protected.

Any thought or pictures?

My missus has them on her focus ST. They work and do the job.  My advice with them is to take your time to fit them and keep checking them as there have reports of them coming off.

I think the way to go is either black ones for black wheels or a contrast colour like toubare going to do.  As the silver and graphite ones may show too much.

I’ve heard mixed reviews, mainly to do with them coming off.

I did see a Porsche Turbo S 991 in black with black alloygators last week and it looked okay.  The car helped though!!

I've seen plenty of Skodas and other makes with red, afew blue and yellow, but no green!

I had them on some alloys a couple of years ago, tyres always needed air and when I took them off they had done more harm than good to the wheels.

Why would you want any other colour than what the alloy is.

I mean Green, Red, Blue etc might suit chavs in Corsas etc

I have just bought these in green off ebay, cheaper to try at £25 rater than £100+ for gators.

Hmm... I reckon you could get away with black... Wouldn't look too bad...

Although...

Red would match the brake calipers... On a VRS.

Yes they are cheaper, and they probably do the job, but the Alloygators need to be properly fitted to the car, they are not just stick on strips.

Alloygators are held on by grips and the tyres themselves.

And they come at two price points, the more expensive is £90 for a set.

Saying that, would I buy Alloygators for the alloys of my new car when it arrives, probably not.  Not because they are rubbish, but because the alloys are graphite coloured with diamond cut faces, and I am not sure that they will look nice fitted with similar coloured Alloygators.
