What engine oil should i use in my 2014 Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0 TDi

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, wondered if anybody could tell me the correct/best engine oil to use in my 2014 Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0 TDi?

Thanks in advance

Neil

5w30 that meets VW 504/507 approval. Technically it doesn't have to be 5w30, there's a Shell 0w30 that complies, but as long as it's 504/507 it's all good.

Done loads of miles in all sorts of my own cars, and had many years experience in building and running race engines, both car and motorbike.

In MY experience - as said, firstly make sure you are buying the proper VW spec for your engine. However - with regard to brand, I wouldn't use anything other than Mobil 1...but that's just me, feel free to do your own research!

I've seen on YouTube that Castrol LL on 100+ degrees does not protect the parts well at all.

I've used this instead of Shell LL. Castrol was more expensive, somehow I thought it was better.

Anyone seen this, what is better of both?

VW Group Elephant in the room.

Long Life oils, 18,500-20,000 mile Oil / Filter Service intervals, all to suit fleet / business users / leasing, 3 years rented out cars,

pretty crap filtration / filters.

But you can use the long life stuff for annual oil changes if you wish. Many oils are dual coded VW 504/507 at no additional cost .

I have now opted for an annual service as my mileage is under 7000. I have no idea which oil grade the Skoda main dealer fitted, the receipt and electronic service update being a bit sparse for my liking.

Yep as above. Mine gets 504/507 Quantum Longlife 3 but gets a change every 10k. Usually about every 7-8 months given my current mileage.
