Hazard lights randomly going off in the night

Featured Replies

Had this problem a few times this week. Gone to car to go to work, hazard lights flashing.

It did it last year as well, over winter I believe, so presumably something to do with wet/cold weather it doesn’t like.

Ive had the fault code reader on it, can’t remember exactly what the problem was, but something to do with voltage to the hazard lights.

any idea where to try and look to solve the problem

Condition of the car's battery.

Battery should be well ok, it was only replaced a few months ago.

lights did it with the previous battery, and it appeared to start after I replaced the heater module

Any more suggestions flat battery than s morning from it

It may be something triggering the alarm. Bonnet latch microswitch is a good candidate. Fuse 60 removal "kills" the alarm.

Pretty sure it’s something to do with the wiring. I’ve levered the heater panel out, and the hazards coming on intermittently had stopped. I can switch them on and off

An intermittent short to chassis/ground on the white/green wire coming off the hazard switch would possibly explain your symptoms. That would act just like the button being pushed.

I’ve had a look at the wires coming out of the hazard switch, and they all look fine.

Its going into the garage next week hopefully they can sort it next week, and it won’t drain the battery again :(

If there is insulation damage, it wouldn't necessarily be near the switch. I would splice in a replacement fresh wire from destination at the onboard supply control unit (connector XS1 pin 6), to the switch, if it were mine, to rule out loom damage/shorting anywhere in between.
