Rear LED Lights High

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been covered before, a quick search didn't reveal much clarity.

Are there two types of LED light clusters for the Kodiaq?

1) Rear LED

2) Rear LED High

Do the standard LED rear lights consist of LED tail and brake lights with regular filament bulbs for the indicators and reverse lights?

Whereas the difference between the regular rear LED lights and the 'High' version is the change from filament indicator and reverse light bulbs to 'full' LED?

On S3 , high means the LED strip extends into tailgate.

Correct. LED high taillights are LED only, no halogens anywhere

I see they're standard from SE L and above which is good, however the only way to get them on the S and SE is as part of several different expensive packages.

Shame the 'high' LED lights aren't available as a cost option by themselves.

A refresh, as I am currently upgrading (retrofit) from LED to Full LED (high) taillights. Here is what I have found out:

1. The regular LEDs have LED taillight, LED reveres and LED fog light on the inner cluster (left inner cluster for left hand drive, the right inner is just a dummy closure, no LEDs included, for UK it is opposite).

1. Full/High LEDs are a bit brighter and the inner lights also have taillight extended, reverse on both inner lights, but the fog light stays only on one inner light (EU version at least). They also have this extra cross lines on sides, which illuminate. The regular LEDs have sides 'flat' and they do not reflect a light.

I have some pictures from this upgrade (not finished yet) and will upload motre soon.

Hi akopczyk,

You posted about retrofitting the taillights and promised more uploads. It didn't materialize, unfortunately.

Your car is probably already long gone?

How did this retrfofitting go? Where you succesful in just exchanging the lights or did it require lots of software-trouble, none-fitting cables etc?

I would consider retrofitting, just can't find lots of useful guidance on the different forums.

Thnx!
