problems with mk2 2012 vrs

Featured Replies

hi guys i will try to keep this short

just bought above car ,this is an ex unmarked  police car ,the warning bulb out sign on the dash is on ,maxidot is telling me to check front fog light bulbs ,i have put new bulbs in today and they still dont work ?

the fog light sign on the dash lights up when they are switched on but they dont work

the car had police strobes on all 4 corners which are no longer there ,or the wiring from what i can see

if the car is telling me they arnt working can i assume they are coded to work but there is a problem somewhere with the wiring ?

or would all these signs still show up even if they have been coded to off

thanks all

Sounds like the car is correct coded, as it's ex-police they've probably messed up some wiring somewhere.

Fortunately, the fogs should be pretty simple to check or even rewire. If I remember correctly:

- Left fog connects to pin T52aa/25 (pin 25, black connector on the BCM)

- Right fog connects to pin T52ac/25 (pin 25, brown connector on the BCM)

The BCM (Body Control Module) which is a square box under the relay carrier found in the drivers footwell. You can't miss it as it's got three big connectors on the underside, they will be black white and brown.

Using a multimeter, check those two BCM pins still connect to one pin on the fogs. The other pin on the fog light bulbs should be grounded.

If you're not handy with electrics I'd call out an auto electrician, the police butcher the wiring as they fit flashing headlight's etc
