superb rear footwell lights

Featured Replies

The rear footwell light behind the driver is not working I thought this was a bulb fail but on investigation it appears the small diode /semiconductor thingymyjig is not passing current is this required what function does it perform ??

Hello this is a protection Diode and rarely fails, in essence it is a one way switch, therefore it would seem that this diode has "blown". An Ebay search for 1N4007 diode will give you 10 for £0.99 delivered. I believe that these are only a push fit in the metalwork of the housing, you maybe lucky and find that the diode has lost contact and a simple push in will solve the issue, either way if you have 12v on the input wiring a £0.99p Ebay purchase would set you right. Observe the correct orientation of the silver band, that is important! there is a thread somewhere on Briskoda about this, I'll try to find it......https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/287643-glowing-led-in-the-removable-boot-torch-fixed/this is a different cause but draws the same conclusion Thanks to SuperbDreams for the initial posting.....
