284mph

Featured Replies

Noisy tractor, is it towing something,

nice top speed, i take it that it can do a quick 0-62 or 0-120 mph if called upon to do it. Just they never geared it for that.

Like that Skoda Octavia that broke high speed records but was not able to do acceleration from a standing start very quick.

They did it on road tyres apparently. Maybe they had to wind it up to save them.

What was scary was the thing going through 180-220. that was like a VRS doing 20-60

This sounds good.

So, does this mean the race is on for first production road car to crack 300mph?

Is it not at 310 mph already?

EDIT, apparently not because of tyres or lack of for standard road cars.

I think my favourite bit of that video is in run 1....he slowly gets up to 200mph, THEN decides "I think I'll use full throttle now" :D:blink:

Tyres were only rated to 186.

Some kahones to push tyres nearly 100mph past their design limits.

I'm sure some manufacturer will come up with road tyres that'll let them run a road car to 300+.

Quite likely, but are there any public roads where they will be needing to do over 250mph?

Those that have private or closed roads to get to that speeds and above might as well have non Road Legal Track tyres on!

More about kudos and advertising I think.

Good for the tyre people to be associated with a 300mph run especially if they can boast how the tyre has gone above and beyond

True, you would think they might be able to get F1 cars Wets & Intermediates shorted out first so that they can run longer or when the tracks are not wet.
