polo gti into pick up?

Featured Replies

hi everybody,

i have a complete polo gti 2001 and want to fit the engine into my diesel skoda pick up? is there anything else i need?

would like to use the brakes /suspension as well if possible? and any other bits ie. dash etc

i have read it bolts straight up to gearbox but is that the diesel or petrol box?

i'm a pretty confident mechanic but any info would be appreciated.

many thanks

It will bolt up to any of the Felicia gearboxes as long as you use the Skoda 1.6 adaptor plate. The 1.3 gearbox is best suited in my opinion as it has the 4.1 final drive so acceleration is pretty rapid, you will need a Felicia 1.6 flywheel, clutch, crank seal and adaptor plate.

You try the current diesel gearbox but not sure how it would drive with that gearbox.

Front brakes probably not worth the hassle, rear disc set up will bolt straight on, just need to add a spacer to the handbrake.

You will need to make a custom offside engine mount.

Then you will have to somehow sort out electrics and immobilizer.

Also then change to a petrol fuel take i would have thought.

The other method is to use the cylinder head off a 1.4 16v AFH onto the Polo 1.6 AVY block, this way you can use the engine loom from a Felicia 1.6 and match the immobilizer to the the AFH ecu via Vcds.

There's also a drawing for the custom engine mount needed available for the AFH route.

It should all be covered in here, shame all the photo's no longer work.

many thanks for thread info mate

off to strip down the polo and look for 1.3 gearbox?

just another question .... to save wiring issues can i not use the complete polo loom ? i.e. dash/lighting/immobiliser etc

my pick up is just a shell anyway (no loom installed)

cheers ady

There's usually a few Felicia's breaking on ebay so finding a 1.3 box and 1.6 bellhousing adaptor plate shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah if that's the case then it might be easier to just gut everything from the Felicia and swap everything over from the Polo.
