Does it still show if you switch the heater/blower off completely? I'm wondering if the A/C being off isn't truly off, or if it actually means the blower (as this will require some energy).

Just switched the fans off and the air conditioning has gone from the display!

Has to be that then, either it still leaves the air conditioning on to an extent (perhaps for dehumidification), or Skoda actually meant "fan blower" instead :)

HVAC would be the correct name for the AC system

For me air conditioning is correct, it is conditioning the air...

AC is not only for cooling but actually is very useful in the autumn & winter for reducing the humidity in the car to help prevent misting & condensation build-up.

As many others, I have my AC on all the time.

The compressor is variable & is only activated when needed but makes the AC system much more reactive at clearing mist from the windscreen.

Modern AC systems with electronic control are much more efficient than the old systems when it was first introduced & on all but extreme hot conditions would have a negligable effect on fuel consumption.
