Who know's maybe it is - maybe it isnt -- still worth another jog NOT to give ANY information for cards to ANYONE.

Turned out it was a genuine call, they also had heard of this scam.

Probably the main reason to be suspicious of such calls would be that they are purporting to come from VISA/Mastercard, when only an issuing bank would contact you - especially to do a credit on your account (which wouldn't require the CSC number anyway).

Think it is blatantly a chain e-mail anyway, you can tell because they always end encouraging you to pass it on to everyone you know... :D

:agree:

We have entry phones. Last week:

"Hello, can you buzz me in. Thank you".

"Erm, Who are you?"

"I have urgent information about your services supply; just buzz me in. Thank you."

"Who are you and what exactly do you want to tell me?"

"Buzz me in please; I'll tell you. Thank you."

"No, goodbye."

Reminders are no bad thing IMO. Especially for those less savvy and more vulnerable who might think they are being notified of a genuine problem.
