Apple Car play issues

Featured Replies

Anyone else having issues with Apple CarPlay since the latest iOS update, just can’t get it to work now. Tried new original charge lead, but recognise it but just doesn’t open on car screen?

No, fine here with an iPhone 7...

As @CheshireBumpkin, no problem with iPhone 7.

The matter was discussed recently in another thread. See here.

Works on iPhone X with latest update. First couple of attempts failed to connect or connected and immediately crashed. Put it down to the Skoda One App, when I exited it on the phone it connected. I haven't tried the Skoda One App since though.

Myself and others have had similar issues since the upgrade to iOS 11 and beyond. Some of us have slightly different quirks but the underlying issues appears to be incompatibility post iOS upgrade with the main skoda system. Carplay is now the only way I can get my iPhone 6 to work, whereas previously it worked fine. :-(

For info, I'm on the iOS beta and haven't had any problems. iPhone 7 and MY18 Superb with, I would assume, current software (9.2" Columbus)

Plug the phone into USB cable start the car and it rarely connects successfully, manual start connection or wait until the infotainment system has fully booted and auto connect works more often. My guess would be that during the handshake between infotainment and iPhone, the iPhone is not receiving the required information in quick enough time as the infotainment is busy booting. It is possible that Apple or Skoda have adjusted the time out.

This is based in the phone displaying something similar to 'STB not compatible" on the screen shortly after "connection failed" comes up on the infotainment and then proceeds to "reading usb", I can manually connect to CarPlay at this point.
