Alloy wheel nut - cap cover size for Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

the alloys on my 2010 VRS automatic are trashed. Like that when I bought the car. They are the factory standard silver ones, I think they are called "Neptune" and are 18", I am having them refurbed and colour changed to black. However the wheel nuts and locking nuts are silver. I have looked at a set of wheel nut caps in black but cannot find for sure ones that are correct.  Need them to be black, the correct fit and allow for the locking nut on each wheel (may need a different size for that nut?!)  Measuring the cap it seems to be 21mm which is fine but I cannot find a set that has 16 normal and 4 locking nut caps.

Appreciate the advice to a bit of a beginner to all this!, any links or direction to where I can get some would be greatly appreciated!

Try a Skoda Dealer, cheap as chips  or e-bay

Just phoned Skoda, they will phone me back tomorrow as sales team have gone home.

Looked at ebay and amazon, those ones you linked would be perfect but do not seem to have the 4 wider fit ones for the locking nuts, this is where I am struggling to find a set.

Cheers :)

Hi, thanks for that,

they are 17mm in diameter though and I need 21mm. I have been searching but I cannot find 21mm with the locking nut option, Just 20 x 21mm standard, I need the 4 locking nut caps too for 21mm.

Hope that makes sense, appreciate the advice so far :)

Why does one need 21mm covers when if you google wheels nut covers for a Mk2  Octavia Vrs comes up as 17mm ?

You can buy 20 covers,  16 for non locking bolts and 4  for locking bolts and plastic tweezers to remove them in a pack................

I'm rather confused.........

I bought a set from the Bay just for the tweezers that pull the cap off.

It sure had 16 normal 17mm hex caps plus 4 caps for round head locking bolts.

Strangely our spare wheel kit only included a hook type tool that works on other VAG wheel bolt caps, but no tweezers

The link Mr Goldfinger posted is correct for OEM VRS bolts.  16x17mm head bolts plus the 4x bigger ones for the locknuts.  If you have any different then they aren't OEM bolts and probably don't fit in the factory wheel.

Hmmmm, I am being stupid. I think I have been measuring outside to outside rather than the size of the actual gap. Rookie mistake, apologies, this is the first used car I have owned as I have moved over from motability.

That would make sense to why I cannot find a 21mm set!

I really appreciate all the help, I can order these now :)

At "work" for 1.5hrs already.  Wake 5.15; drive to station 5.40; catch northbound train 6.05; catch westbound train 6.25; arrive work 6.50.  Work till 17.00 and reverse the process.   I'll be glad when I find a new house and move close to the city again.

I was getting close to retirement but decided last year I'd rather fund a permanent departure for my (ex)-wife. Plus 1x teenager to fund at university and another that will need assistance in a few years time.

I could retire if I lived frugally but I prefer having "lifestyle choices". (theatre,  holidays, dining out, drinking like a fish, etc ) :-)

I am sure I will have multiple other questions at some point whilst I get this car to where I want it :D
