Interior noise

Featured Replies

Hi all. I've had my 2012 Octavian for a month now and so far been pleased with car. The only thing that's annoying me is the noise. It's nothing mechanical as it's the same when sitting in car in the drive everything switched off. I can hear everything outside. I checked door and window seals with chalk and all seam fine. Has anyone else got the same problem.

nope, mine shuts out sounds really well especially my stereo (new speakers, sub and amps) when the doors are open it's like a local disco, shut the doors you can hardly hear it.

is it all round noise or is it louder from a certain area - also what type of noise

I can hear everything as though doors are open. But I have checked the seals and all seem ok.no water getting in either.I will just have to turn up the volume on the stereo I suppose.

Sorry to intrude - what do you mean you checked the seals with chalk? How do you do that?

I am interested because I am also trying to find a source of windnoise to the front doors and I can't....

I've been trying so many things you wouldn't blieve... I get a constant wind noise on the upper side of both front windows when I get past 70 km/h and it just gets worse as I go faster...

My guess would be to rub chalk on the rubber seals. When the doors/window is shut any bad seal should show by the chalk not being disturbed.

Some of the noise may just be a lack of insulation, some of it aerodynamic design.

There also could be noise from where the seals are failing with age.  It could make a seal when closed, just not a very good one.

I complained about a whistle that would eminate from the driver's door  at speeds above 55mph (a lot of people have complained of similar on here). The dealership *ahem* 'realigned' the door.

The whistle has gone, but so has the perfect seal to my vehicle, outside noise now gets into the cabin more than before. Was informed by the dealership this was the best they could do.

It's possible something similar may have happened to your vehicle.

I have same issue, cos it's a Skoda, and an oldish one at that.
