Heater settings - What is the REST button ?

Featured Replies

I have this button called REST but can't seem to get it to do anything - car stopped, car moving - Nothing.

What does it do ?

I pressed this button just once, with ignition off and heating controls off as a result. pressing the rest button turned on the heating controls. According to the manual this is a residual heat function on/off.

“Rest” as in “Remaining”.

It turns on the blowers on a low setting for about 30 minutes to blow through the warmed air or in summer the air-con cooled air. It only works if switched on within a short time after turning off the ignition.

I wondered what that was too. Thanks BillyJim

Engine has to be off for it to do anything. It also runs the electric circulating pump to pump the coolant through a hot engine to extract the heat. I’ve never tried it with the aircon side of things, but then I live in Scotland!

Great service again chaps, thanks for replies.

I now understand what it does, but struggling with why it’s necessary.

The point is that if you stop the car, wait in it whilst, say, the other half is shopping, get cold, then you can use the residual heat to keep the car warm without having to start the engine.
