MPI disc size

Featured Replies

As I've put all new rear brake shoes and drums on the back i was thinking about the front discs. The pads look new but the discs are a little worn. So having checked various topics I'm none the wiser as to what size front discs in need

Fabia 2002 1.4 MPI standard set up on steels

Probably 239mm.

What's your engine code?

If it's AME, ATZ or AQW, they'll be 256mm.

If AZE or AZF then they could be either 239 or 256mm.

That was my next Q after a look at Haynes. Otherwise, they need to know power output and whether 8/16 valve.  From a quick look, there are three different diameters of front disc. Not being funny but to as a derv owner, 1.4MPI says little, apart from a Multi-point injection engine. Haynes lists nine different engine codes and three-disc diameters.

Wouldn't trust Haynes on this one. 1.4 MPI generally only describes the 8-valve 1.4L.

Whip a front wheel off and use a tape measure, the 17mm difference means it will be obvious which size they are.

I would say its likely for them to be 256mm. - Most mpi i have seen at the scrapyards are this size. The calliper code FS** should tell you but i cant remember which numbers mean what. I believe the 239mm were only used on 1.2 and 1.4 without power steering. I may be wrong though

It's the 8 valve MPI with the AQW engine so it's going to be the 256mm discs. Cheers folks.

To be fair to Haynes, they do mention 1.4 OHV & DOHC. I'd take this  AS 8/16 VALVE.
