Eonon android headunit install Fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just installed a new eonon headunit into the Fabia vrs. Here's a video review incase you are on the shelf about purchasing one of these. So far I like it. Much better than the swing.

Hi Nandovee

Does the rear parking sensors work with the screen (if you have the sensors) - the little car with the graph and the  audible beeps. Similar image below:

Or is this a VCDS job?

Ive got my eye on this RNS 510  style Android device (cant really see much difference to yours?) This one is £299 on ebay

I don't have parking sensors iam afraid. I imagine they would still work tho. My last car was an astra with parking sensors and I swapped the headunit and they still worked. I did look at those RNS style units. But I decided that should anything go wrong then I would want good support. I think the branded units like eonon or xtrons etc have best after sales support. I imagine after sales support with that device you listed would be non existent.i paid about 215 quid for mine which included dash cam. And has 2gb ram.

Parking Sensors work on my GA6153F, so do doors/bonnet/boot notifications.

The dashcam issue with crashing on boot is something I had as well.

I migrated to a dedicated dashcam to get around this.

I'll try uninstalling for a bit and see if it solves it.

Try change the frame rate or the resolution down a bit without affecting quality too much? Sometimes 60 FPS is overkill @ 1080p when 30FPS is OK at 720p.

How f do I do that

on most camera's you can change the resolution - might be in settings somewhere (on the actual camera) or it might be in the recording app.

if you can change it, it will help a bit

Hows the glare on screen, My mates suffered massively with the reflecting sun and fingerprints? Also I take it you have some kind of unlimited data plan? For the likes of me who runs out of data almost every month what's the options?

Glare hasn't been an issue. Although I'll wait till summer comes back until I give me final verdict on that hahaa. It does love a finger print tho. I only connect it if I use the sat nav. Apart from that I use it for music off sd card and to watch game of thrones while she's in shopping :)

Haha class !

My pal had a contract with “3” with unlimited data so we had the football and all sorts streaming.

cough cough legally ....

Aye I'm gonna use it for a bit see how it holds up and then likely get a dongle of some sort. The possibilities are endless.... Porn at traffic lights.... Angry birds on roundabout.... Only jesting.... Angry birds on roundabout is a bridge too far.

If you share your phone wifi signal & have good data plan you can 'tether' your android device  to your phone.

I did this in spain to watch free footy on a cheapo android tablet, should be same method for android stereo. (in theory?)

Yeah mate, unfortunately I’ve got a pretty **** data plan(6gb) and for some reason I seem to top it out every month.

Anyone know what the best android app for the dreaded speed camera's is (including the new average style ones between 2 routes)

This would be one of first things to install when i get my stereo updated!

Some of the sat nav apps give you speed camera warnings. Not sure which ones tho

  • 2 weeks later...

Really appreciate the review.

Been looking for a plug and play system that I don't need to mess around with and this seems to for the bill.

Where did you purchase this from?

I have a Skoda Octavia 2006, do they also supply a faceplate?

Cheers:)

I got mine from eBay from eonon. Alternatively you can go on their site and buy them direct. Price wise not much difference. On their actual site it's a wee bit more expensive but they come with a 2 year warranty as opposed to 1 year on eBay. As for fitment of ur Octavia. I am not sure. If you nip on to their site you can choose your vehicle and it will show u all the ones applicable to your car. You shouldn't need a new faceplate for vehicle specific models. I didn't. They are designed to be a straight swap of the OEM unit.

Cheers Nandovee. I'll get on that now :)

Will this stereo also work on my MK2 Octavia? If so, would I also need a faceplate?

You got amnesia? Lol see two posts up :)

I must have:) I'm a bit confused that is all. I need clarity:)

If your OEM stereo is a swing, Amundsen or Columbus. Then it should fit. See attached pics from xtrons site. The same shape unit is listed as applicable for Octavia 2007-2012. As long as u have an Octavia of that year then it should be a straight swap with no faceplate needed. I would recommend you contact either eonon or xtrons customer service if you want additional peace of mind.
