Strange Wobble Buzzing vibration when clutch pressed

Featured Replies

Posted this in General and was advised to post it here to see if anyone else has the same thing.

Have read some things similar but not sure if it is the nature of this car or the DMF is warped or damaged.

Spoke to a garage (not  VAG) and the head mechanic did not drive it but told me he has an octavia VRS diesel that does the same thing?

And that it was not an issue until it started to bother me and they could then look at changing it?

Is that true?

Have had the car a month now and love it, have a 2010 2.0 tdi cr 4x4 skoda superb the issue seems to be when in gear and accelerating when I depress the clutch to change gear I get a wobbling buzzing feeling thought the peddle on the first inch of movement.

If I put it in neutral it's fine.

It only seems to be there when accelerating under load then pressing the clutch in.

Please advise if this is a serious issue or not as it's worrying me a bit at the moment.

Seems to drive fine, drones when accelerating but could just be the nature of the engine, no shaking or anything that i can tell while driving, clutch does not feel odd at all normally just when pressing as accelerating up through the gears on the first inch, if I accelerate under load it feels worse if I press it as in riding the clutch the first inch (don't ride it usually) just as an example.

Just to add further If I start the car and gently press the clutch I can feel a very minor tapping or wobble like a buckled bike wheel is pushing the pedal making it wobble it's only minor though.

If I drive it normally and take my foot completely off the accelerator then change gear I can't hardly feel it.

But I was gently resting my foot on the clutch last week about to change gear and felt it now I'm noticing it more as I'm consious of it.

Don't get me wrong I don't ride the clutch or rest my foot on it normally it was just the traffic and gear changed that made me first notice it.

It's possibly the DMF. It's also possible that it's the Sachs pressure plate issue. Have a read of this and see if any of it sounds familiar to you:

The vibration you describe when you rest your foot on the clutch gently was probably always there, it has been on every TDI I've driven.

Your best bet is to get the opinion of a trusted local mechanic. I expect your DMF has started to go, but get it checked.

Never had this sort of Vibration on my Superb I 1.9pd. Can't pass comment on my Superb II as it's petrol (uber smooth)

You really need to check it's not the Sachs pressure plate self destruct issue as it will eventually damage/break your gearbox if it is. Any scraping/rubbing/rattling noise from the outside of the car -stop driving! If you've got gearbox oil dripping from the bellhousing - you're already too late (If clutch fluid - then it's the concentric slave cylinder!). The pressure plate fails in a way that would be felt thorough the pedal.

Well thought I would do an update on my Skoda Superb 4 x 4 estate with the issue of the clutch vibrating when depressed it turns out that the dual mass flywheel was in fact walked and had about 7 to 8 mm of movement and play it was then removed and replaced with in l u k clutch and flywheel dual mass obviously and now feels much better and I am also glad that the old clutch has been removed so I don't have to worry about the Sachs clutch going pear-shaped hopefully this will future-proof the car now as it cost around about £900 to do all of the work including labour as removing the 4 x 4 system added more time than first thought I am however extremely happy that this has been carried out as the car was practically undriveable before and extremely irritating it's very strange that it came on so fast as it seem to drive perfect for the first three to four weeks but then became extremely hard to drive in the last 40 miles due to vibration and pulsing through the clutch pedal as mentioned above however there is still a very slight vibration through the clutch so it is obviously something that is always there but it's nowhere near as bad
