Moto g5 help

Featured Replies

Hi

Recently bought a g5 (not the plus) on cyber Monday

Wifey set it up while I was at work

It's proving very laggy and unstable but  only with the apps that are on the sd card

Moving apps from sd to internal storage seems to help, but obviously you can only go so far

According to wifey there was a warning at the beginning saying the sd card is slow and may cause problems

The sd card has run in my vodaphone for 2 years and been ok

I think it's a Kingston 64gb

Am going to buy another sd card and hopefully cure all this

Has anyone got a g5 that has an sd card that they are happy with and what make is it?

Tia

First question is the card class 10?  If not you'll need one.

I usually use SanDisk Extreme class 10 micro and SD cards and never had any issues

Is that with the g5?

A Google search shows other people having problems with class 10's

Seems picky with what it likes and doesn't

Without taking the back off am not quite sure

What class is the Kingston?  I only ever hear of issues with Kingston cards.

Samsung is another good brand to use.

Also not all apps work well moving to SD. Facebook and any other large resource hungry app won't work well being on an SD card regardless of the device.  This has always been the case with Android and apps to SD function.

My Moto G is short on internal space so I move apps to the SD card when I can.

However the phone can use the card in 2 ways. As traditional external media storage or as an extension of the internal storage. For apps its better the second way.
