"The Fix"

Featured Replies

How would I know if the fix emissions fix has been done. A lot of talk about it but can't see where I would know if it's been done?

I think they put a slicker in the Spare wheel well,

George, Awaoffski is your man, he will know.

Otherwise, check the software version of your ECU with a scan tool :)

My elm OBD doesn't work for some reason:sadsmile: I'll get my pal to check it when I get a chance. What version was the original, do you know?

Anything higher than about 9970 normally has the fix.

Check the On-line checker and see if the car is still on as needing The Fix.

Or ask Skoda UK Customer Services, if some Dealership did it they would not be paid unless they put on the system that they have done.

A service action is available for your vehicle.

The EA 189 diesel engine in your vehicle with the Vehicle Identification Number you entered is affected by the EA 189 NOx emissions issue.

We would like to reassure you that independent testing authorities have confirmed that there will be no negative impact on engine performance, maximum torque, fuel consumption, noise and CO2 emissions as a result of having this update applied. (Except the update f***s the EGR valve up..)

Please either use our booking tool or contact your local Retailer to book your vehicle in for the service action. Of course, you won’t be charged for having the work completed.

A tech at my local garage told me that they have had issues with the 1.6 engine!! Soooo yeah its real. He did say the EGR moves more after the fix and therefore it fails quicker!

Had issues with 1.2 & 2.0 TDI's as well, so nothing different with the 1.6TDI issues other than that was the last Fix to be getting done due to the Plastic Flow adjuster which is really a bit of a joke as it turns out.

Seen all manner of VAG vechiles having issues after the fix.

^^^

So all ready for some wintry fun. No need for the fix.

  Tank filled up,

Tyre pressures done, coolant / antifreeze strength checked, nice clean dry air filter in and fuel filter.

Screen wash and de-icer bought.

Door seals sprayed with silicone spray, door locks ok.

Tank filled up - No

Tyre pressures done -check later +2 psi. Coolant/Anti-freeze done. Nice clean dry air filter in and fuel filter - nope.

Screen wash and de-icer bought. Don't use de-icer, bad for the rubber on wipers. Screenwash is topped up and 2l bottle ready mixed in boot.

Door seals sprayed with silicone spray, door locks ok.

LOL, i have a 19 year old and 14 year old Jimny and De-icer has been used on them every winter.

No harm ever done to wipers of rubber  window or door seals.

You will soon see if you have cold enough days how Fabia doors / seals fill with water if you use warm water and then freeze inside the doors.

Remember and open the passenger door daily or the water can freeze if not drained out.

Then the rear drums can be fun...

I live in Scotland lol, every day is cold up here. My old Fabia was fine last year, just used a scraper where required, doors opened fine on it.

I live in Scotland as well.

Never used a scrapper in my life.

Mild Greenock commonly then.

Halfords Night Before De-Icer is good as well.

Had to use a scraper just last week, heard that demon stuff being advertised on the radio.

Twice last week i did 120 mile detours because the snow gates were closed and it was -5*oC a few days.

Still never used a scrapper. Never even if in Sunny South Ayrshire or even your area and there is a hoar frost.

Have fun.  You will see what i mean about your Monte doors this weekend.
