climatronic info

Featured Replies

i have noticed when i have the unit "OFF"

(it is set for 20 degrees C)

warm air comes through the face vents and from the footwell when moving...which is nice but not having been called for i wondered??

recently when doing some surfing on this forum i saw some suggestions on resetting the flaps?

i couldnt find instructions on fabia 2 just some advice on an octavia...whose controls are different

any advice appreciated...

in the summer the AC worked well and the full blast to clear the windscreen is most efficient....

cheers

Unless you close the vents off, there will always be a small flow of air being "Driven" though the vents, rather then "Sucked" Through with the fan...

I am unsure as to if the flaps can be reset on the older system climatronic fitted to your car. It may be the later models, which have the fan speed and temp settings the other way round on the display which can be reset via the controls.

BTW, you will almost certainly have noticed that the fan speed has a small increase when you pop the car in to reverse.

With it off I think it’s just the heat from the engine bay coming through pretty much.

that is strange..i wont even postulate on any physics reason for this...except maybe vortex shedding..

good call...its probably something along those lines...or maybe proximity of the exhaust pipe...

Only ever tried it twice to be honest when doing eco runs before and after the remap.

I did notice if you give it a quick blast on cold air then turn it off it will stay cold for abit then heat up again.

Had to do it a lot in my mates let corsa to get heat out of the engine bay on track full heat at full blast it wasn’t comfortable in the summer that’s for sure.

its ok now i understand it...i can always turn down the temp on the climatronic to 19 i guess...its at 20 just now

of course being winter its a bit of a bonus having gentle heat coming through

we are using the recirculating idea a bit now we are doing short journeys when shopping..

cheers

....Or you can shut off the vents. Recirculation is used when say, fumes or external smells are not nice so you want to re-use the air already in the vehicle. It is recommended to use this occasionally and for short periods as it may make you drowsy, breathing in the same air. It will filter, cool etc but still be the same air, to a degree, unless you crack open a window thereby making the recirculation redundant anyway!

Maybe use the Recirculation if sitting behind a polluting vehicle or in stopped traffic getting fumes, but not really in normal use where you want circulating fresh air and getting H20 out of the car so no condensation and freezing inside when frosty / freezing.

Which is where A/C running is important when available, and if not Inhibited due to the ambient temp. ie below 4 or 2 degrees or whatever.

thanks...i got that feeling as we were driving along it was too stuffy....and shutting the vents had occurred to me and i think i will with the cold air coming into the cabin too early to be welcome first thing

i use the recirculation to heat up quickly so as to combine the already warming air with more heat input...but as i said above...it does get stuffy...

better if it was mild weather all the time...

right...i have only seen 6 degrees so far on the dash temperature readout

it feels a lot colder though when you get out...into the wind

There you go, windchill, flesh feels that.

Then many never know that Ground temp is taken at the ground and Air Temp is taken above 5 feet from the ground,

car takes the temp from nearer the ground.

Looks like Sunday / Monday you might get below 4*oC.    Maybe sledging.

wowowo the weather was just on the tv

2 tomorrow...mrscrow is bringing the semi tropical plants which are in pots...into the conservatory

The conservatory?  With the lead pipe or the gun? Sounds like a game of Cluedo...

You mentioned feeling colder. You must remember that from the biking days... Cold day for pedestrians means frozen fingers for a motorcyclist. I used to think it funny having heated grips as I thought surely the gloves will stop the heat coming through but if they let the cold in, they will let the heat in too. Add in the oh-so stylish handle bar muffs and you have toasty-warm hands for the journey.  Feet like ice cubes though!..Lol.

i had a pair of leather gauntlets which had a bit of lining so i made the best of the situation

for warmer times i had some stringbacks with soft leather palms...very cool!!

my knees got it the worst in winter since i never bought a motorcycle suit...

one could always pull over and do some essential massaging..

for the face i wore a white scarf tied over my mouth and nose...and used aero pilot goggles...and a bone dome

no visors really then...

the goggles could steam up from time to time..

....Always been a full face helmet guy myself. Especially after I worked with a guy who inadvertently rode into the back of a Jag, smashing out most of his front teeth and breaking his jaw! How he used to enjoy dropping his false teeth into a mates beer at the pub... Made it almost worthwhile loosing them!

i swung my leg over a lambretta li 150 as my first mechanised two wheeler

in 6 months i traded for a T110 650

then a velocette viper 350

that was 1961-1964

there werent many visor types then but had there been i would have had one

mm.jpg.ae98ac312fb2b148910b0d1496a9d272.jpg

i had one of these on my tiger 110...with a cut out for the light...fitting the handlebars was a difficult job

i had to buy clip ons to fit inside the fairing...lucky there was a conversion kit which could be fitted to the main handlebar fixings

on the velo without a fairing it was easier with ace bars

vl.jpg.f34e81de612b2b84654a1d9b8e9cce31.jpg

now i sit back and let the insects hit the windscreen instead of my face...

Very pretty. Like the face slicer front numberplate!

disastrous indeed...

when i had the T110 i took it off the front mudguard and fitted it across the forks just below the light..

ball ended levers were supposed to be an improvement over the dagger like originals..

used to fit hairy grips as well

all to a good cause...

I know we're a little off topic now but I started my ptw life on a Suzuki A50P... Never understood why Fizzies were more popular as they looked spindly, sounded rubbish and although slightly faster acceleration, were slower overall!

Memories.

This is where i last thought about having a A5oP just to sit in the living room, the one they had was just perfect.

I had a FS1E but wanted a Honda.

They have some great bikes for sale.
