Front Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

Yeti 1.2 with front and rear sensors. The front sensors do not operate unless the 'P' button on the dash is pressed or the car is put in reverse. So you can drive up to a stop barrier in a car park and get no warning beep! Garage tells me this is because they are parking rather than distance sensors. Is this correct?

If you had them on all the time they would drive you mad with false alarms. They go on when you select reverse, and the front sensors also come on. The front sensors stay on as you move forward again whilst maneuvering until they switch off at a set speed.

If you are going forward into a tight space you can turn them on with the P button at any time.

Never had any such problem with my Mercedes with front and rear sensors.

How many stop barriers have you hit?
I do pop them on when manoeuvring tightly to other objects like when coming home to park very near to my garage door.

Ditto. The front sensors on my merc self activate when the speed drops below about 5mph. They're an excellent idea that sadly VAG have not copied for the Yeti.

My point exactly!

My 1.2DSG automatic's front sensors come on automatically if I am driving forward and there is something close to the front sensor.  Yesterday a cyclist passed me on the nearside as I was driving along at about 10mph and he triggered the fns sensor.  I've noticed too that if I pull in close to the nearside on a narrow road the sensor activates automatically.  I would suggest there is something wrong with yours.

That's the first time I've heard the front parking sensors on a Yeti working without being in reverse or the button being pressed.

Well it is what it is I guess.  When I go shopping with swmbo and we drive straight into a supermarket parking spot almost immediately the front sensors kick in.

I ought to point out that these are OEM front sensors which were added early this year after I had omitted to specify them when I ordered the Yeti.  They were had supplied and fitted by Professional Retrofits, a supplier I can highly recommend for this kind of work.  They work perfectly with the original rear factory fitted sensors including activating the in-car dashboard display.

That explains it.

They might be OEM sensors but not working how they are designed to work on a Skoda Yeti.
