S3 Superb - Brake Pad Wear Rate

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Do the brake pads have wear sensors that inform you when the pads are work? I've covered nearly 66k and still on the original pads and discs.

Thanks all

yes they do...

Had my front pads changed 2 days ago at 14k miles...

That’s good going 66k on one set of pads, you must drive like me. I just had my first set of pads on my transit custom after 60K

also front tyres lasted 53k, if you drive carefully (or boring ) that’s what you can get out of a vehicle,

I have now clocked up over 77k miles (I know it is an SII;)) on my original pads and discs, yes I only do 60mph to and from work and 70++ to Scotland and Kent otherwise. It is simply looking ahead, anticipating and using the engine to break.

Thanks chaps. It's due a service in 7k so I'll make a note and mention them. They feel Ok currently.

Only done just over 1000 miles in 5 months so I probably will never need the brake pads replacing LOL

Yikes, that's pretty shocking.  Bad batch?

I've owned quite a few VAG cars in the last 10 years, mostly pre-registered and as new, I've put a lot of miles on them and never once needed to replace pads or discs.

The pads I think were ok... It was due to them rattling apparently... Though the issue is still there

I am pretty light on pads, just had mine serviced at 36K miles, fronts 10% worn, rears 20% worn.
