Is that just a statement or a question? More info needed.

Hi. It is a statement but also a question in as much that during dull days, when it's not dark enough to warrant the need to put headlights on, the various needles show but the digits etc are practically invisible. I do appreciate that with side lights on the panel lights remain dull, as above, and only light up brilliant when the headlight switch is operated. Just trying to ascertain if there is any way of having them brighter in normal daylight conditions.

I'm with you now, I think!  It sounds like the same problem I have had with 3 Yetis, it turns out that there is a sensor, on the Yeti it is located at about 8 o'clock on the rev counter dial. It automatically increases the panel lights when it senses the outside light is insufficient.

In my case it was annoying when driving through a tunnel during daylight and all the letters/numbers disappeared just leaving the needles visible. Turning the lights on solves the problem  but I still think it is poor design.

Word of warning, when I raised this query originally on the Yeti forum I was told (flamed) that I shouldn't be driving without lights in poor visibility!

They should be on all the time, christ I had a Citroen AX twenty years ago that had then always illuminated. I wonder if this can be coded into the electrics by the dealers?

Excellent way to tell the driver it's time to turn on driving lights. I only wish every car had the same solution.

Excellent examples of the responses I got last time!

Mine too. However these leave you prone to being one of the fools with no lights on at dusk.

And you don't still believe it?

Driving lights should be always on when car is moving. Except bright day light. That's why Citigo tries to tell you when it's time to turn on the lights.
