How may I disable the foot on brake to engage drive "safety" feature

Featured Replies

I asked this question a few years ago, and near got lynched for suggesting such a heinous action, but still feel it is a more sensible desirable modificaction, than, for instance;

chipped HP

Fancy wheels

Tinted windows

Lowered suspension

My circumstances.

I an 58, driving 40 years with zero fault accidents cept a wee rear ender on a roundabout in 1988

I loathe other drivers who sit with their foot on the brake, when stationary for extended periods, therefore I will not do the same.

When I go to move off, despite 116,000 miles over 7 years in the same, bought new  DSG equipped car,

I still am going for the throttle instead of the brake, to engage gear.

Especially if my car is already trickling off in a forward direction, post parking brake release.

N.B.

Mercedes Benz does not see fit to fit this "safety" feature,

and I find driving the automatic MB/SDP totally instinctive, this on a very occassional basis, on very short local runs.

Anyway, if drive is inadvertently selected, an purely  instinctive stab to the brake pedal will avert mishap.

I never leave the car running, or indeed keys in the ignition, when unoccupied, a self-taught habit of a lifetime, and very unlikely to change.

I am the sole driver.

I will drive this car until she is a scrapper.

And in the meantime, I and only I will be accountable/responsible for any incidents/mishaps.

etc

etc

So helpful advice welcome.
