Indicator problem

Featured Replies

Today my indicator started behaving strangely. A few regular repeats, then a little flutter of 2 or 3 together in rapid fire, then back to regular interval repeats again. The interruption of regular interval repeats with these fast stuttery "beats" shows up on the dash indicator flashing light and on the exterior, and does it when indicating left or right.

Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

thanks

Adam.

Mine did this at Christmas. It starts with the erratic behaviour you mention, then packs up completely. They take about 2 minutes to replace - the relay is part of the hazard warning light switch. I got mine done under warranty so not sure of the price of the part, but I think it's 15 pounds, although maybe 30.

Mine does the same, sometimes they'll work perfectly, then they'll either stop all together or only come on once or twice meaning I have to 're-indicate'!

I was going to take it down to my local Skoda garage (my first time since getting the car!) but may well hold-fire if I can sort it myself.

Ah.. money saved is money earned!(Towards a remap, CAI, suspension... but don't tell SWMBO!)

thanks for the feedback. I've been thinking about having cruise control fitted to the car, would fitting the new stalk also change the defective part in the process or am I looking at a separate job to fix this?

thanks

Adam.

Two different parts- the relay that's causing the indicator problem is in the switch in the middle of the dash and completely seperate to the cruise control stalk.

my central lockin kept unlockin and lockin its self yesterday. it just wouldnt stay locked. all i did was take the fuse out and pust it back in firmly and jobs a godun!! it might be a bad conection in your fuse box. try and do same.

hi got same prob wi my indicators have non ,not even hazords ... changed fuse no luck . . is the relay easy to change ?

The relay is integrated into the hazzard switch, hence the post earlier regarding replacing this.

Replace the hazzard switch and all will be well again with your indicators.

thanks bud .

octavia part number 1U0 953 235 B 300

I Think Jorily do the part cheaper, pretty sure I got mine from there, about 18-20 quid (octy)

hopefully this is the correct area to post,

I have had the Octavia (55 plate) for approx 1 yr, now the indicators are playing up, there is an intermittant fault, when I push the indicator stork up ie to turn right some times the LH indicator flashes, reset stork and push stork up again problem goes away,

I think it could be the relay failing judging what I read earlier on indicators,

anyone else had this problem or should I replace the relay as a matter of course.

Cheers

Dave
