L&K Outdoor ride height

Featured Replies

Greetings all

I have a 2013 L&K Outdoor 4x4 Mk2 superb.

One thing that I have noticed is that the ride height is appallingly low. We have 3 large speed humps near to my house. If I have the car laden, or 4 people inside, it will nearly always scrape the bottom on the 2nd speed hump.

My wife's current Golf combi has zero issues there. Same with the last 3 series combi. No problem.

But this dang "Outdoor" version sits so low.

Does anyone know of aftermarket springs or some other way to increase the ride height of this low sitting wallowing boat of combi?

OEM springs are cheap. Do not know about front ones, but rear springs are like 70 euros each.

Is the German 'Outdoor' the same / similar to the UK version?

If so it gets increased ride height over the regular Superb so its a good job you went for the Outdoor!

If the Superb Outdoor is like the Octavia Scout then almost all of the extra ride height is achieved through higher profile tyres.

What size wheels and tyres are fitted? You might be able to gain some ride height by playing around with different tyres and wheels which could be easier than new suspension. In the UK they come with 18" wheels and low profile tyres...

In some markets they go with 17" wheels with slightly higher profile tyres, this might get you an important few millimeters?

Mine looks exactly like the one in your photo. Same color too. The difference is the fog lights. I think that photo is from the the outdoor plus model.

My summer wheels are 18 inch while the winters are 17. Both scrape though.

I was planning to get the "tallest" tire I could fit in the spring, though that is because I find the ride on the lower profile tires absolutely appalling. I know larger wheels look better, but why people want to put up with the crap ride is beyond me.

Mine is definitely sitting lower than the one in your photo.

Perhaps I can just order springs and dampers for the outdoor plus model and stick them in.

Yours is the pre-FL then by the looks of it, although this shouldn't affect the ride height.

I have a regular (non 4x4 / Outdoor) Superb, I fitted a higher profile tyre (a non approved tyre size so be wary of insurance implications).

The purpose was ride comfort and pothole protection!

Did you check if the rear suspension is still okey?

Maybe - were there any suspension change in the past? There are lot of different types are available, they might mix with a wrong one. (For sport susp, increased height susp, etc....)

That was exactly my idea - maybe some previous autobahn maniac has fitted lowered springs set to your car? Quite common in Germany.

I need to check that i guess. I though, there are no numbers available, so i guess I will ask the shop when it is next in for service.

Yeah that is difficult to check afterwards
