Ha! A snip at that price - nothing says 'class' like a brown umbrella. Oops...you have an L&K...don't tell me the L&K comes with these fancy ones? :blush

Didn't realise MK II wouldn't fit...it would probably have stayed in a place of reverence on the bookcase underneath the flying china ducks.

Its pathetic how attached I was to my last car.

Sadly not - would have matched the string-back driving gloves nicely:biggrin:

Not at all - I had 2 SII Superbs before the current SIII and loved them both to bits. For me they looked and felt a bit more "limousine-like" than the new one with its "sportier" lines. Loving all the new toys on the SIII though (DCC, ACC, ALG, TJA, Canton etc) - it's a fantastic car and a great successor to the last two.

Where is the best place to buy Skoda umbrellas?

I never got them with mine (ex demo). Wasn't bothered at the time as the dealer gave me 2 big normal golf type brollies to compensate, but i keep seeing the holder holes in the doors and I think it would be nice to have them in there now.  Would complete the car nicely!!  :D

£20 apiece here: http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/product/Superb_III_Umbrella_000087600G9B9

One of the umbrellas was missing when I picked my Mk3 L&K up from Motorpoint a couple of weeks ago and they said they would send me one. A parcel shelf arrived today instead!

Welcome Graham - knew we'd get you into the MkIII forum somehow or another!

Thanks Jeff. Here I am.

Yes, entirely agree. My Sportline in Quartz grey with all the piano black has a  'life of its own' presence. I'm half expecting a set of eye-lids to close over the lights. Nothing limousine like at all. I'm worried people are thinking I'm having a late life crisis...or a drug dealer.

I think a pair of Browning .30 cal machine guns instead of headlamp washers should have been on the accessories list for this car for those Sunday drivers tootling along gawping at the sheep, don't ya know.

It is absolutely worth checking on the day. Even in brand new cars they seem to "walk" since dealers grab one from the nearest car to put in the car that's about to be picked up by it's new owner. Mine had one missing on pick-up day. No problem says the salesman - and promptly takes one out of the Superb in the showroom!

The other thing to check for is the LED torch in the boot. They seem to go walkabout quite regularly too.

BTW has anyone ever actually used the umbrellas? I haven't and probably never will - but I'd paid for them so I wasn't leaving without them!:D

Same with the Sat Nav did you take that as well :D:biggrin:

Just be careful to get the right one. ISTR the SII umbrella is bigger than the SIII and won't fit into the SIII recepticle.

Or you could go for the flash one...http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SKODA-MERCHANDISE/Umbrella-Laurin-Klement-original-Skoda-Autoas-product

€64.99!!!:blink::o:D

After our our SII was written off in an accident, SWMBO took everything loose from the car, including the umbrella.  When we got our SIII, both umbrellas were missing.  The dealer said he'd get some in and post them to us, but only one arrived.  I couldn't be bothered to go back to them again, so I put the SII umbrella in my door and the new umbrella in SWMBO's door; the SII umbrella is a tight fit, but it goes in.  If I'd given her the SII umbrella, she'd have been complaining it's not easy to get in and out, so it saves me getting any grief from her!

yes that is what i'm going for :giggle: I've heard a lot about how fast they are but are they really as fast as they say they are? My dad hates how i drive now never mind having something ridiculous :D

Hello

So, firstly bear in mind I've been driving a 172ps petrol turbo Vectra estate for 14 years until last week when we collected the 280 sportline, and I've test driven a 190 diseasel 4x4 sportline, 220 petrol sportline and a 280 4x4 L&K before we chose ours...

I'm still 'running in' (340 miles so far) so letting it warm up well and keeping it below 4500rpm, but even then it feels very quick. I don't think its a sports car and I have driven faster vehicles as my brother-in-law is a bit of a petrol head (think M3, M5, 911 turbo, S3, R32) but the Skoda just seems to be effortlessly quick. We drove 240 miles home from the dealer up the A303 and it was lovely, quick away from roundabouts, surefooted and grippy. Overtakes are over before you can worry. The power on tap does make it easy. Its an effortless long-legged tourer.

Round twisty bits I don't know yet, we've a holiday in Cornwall soon so I guess I'll find out then. I'm expecting it to be as good as a 4.9m long, 1800kg  car could be. To be honest even a proper rocket like the M5 was a bit poor on twistys, I think its just a function of the weight and physical size - my old Polo G40 years ago was a real backroad rocket but it weighed less than the air it displaced and had a supercharger.....

I suspect when the 280 is run in and I can use the whole rev range it will be even better but I've another 300 miles yet...

I don't think you'll be disappointed, for sure. I suspect your dad might need some incontinence pants for his first trip in the 280 if you can scare him already in a Mondeo :)

Unfortunately Skoda UK thinks it's too exciting for the UK market so you can’t  :crying:

Such a pity. It would blend in so well with the Prince of Wales’ suit the odd time we have tea. I tried to get him to get a Kodiaq, but he said he had enough animals to look after...

Skoda UK really are killjoys. :crying:
