Superchips remap, How to tell?

Featured Replies

Just noticed in the front of my service book that my VRS wagon was originally owned by Superchips, is there a way of telling if it's been fettled? and if it has is the Superchip map work any good?

it will have lots of power without smoke:thumbup:

If it belonged to superchips you can bet it was chipped at some stage, but maybe they removed when they sold it.:thumbdwn:

Didn't think petrol engines were supposed to smoke at all!

Any reputable tuner - eg Jabbasport - should be able to use their diagnostic kit to verify that the checksum is correct for the particular engine and ECU version fitted. If it isn't, then the ECU has either been remapped or chipped.

I'd get the info straight from the horses mouth.

Superchips gave me excellent customer service a few years back (on a Ford, I hasten to add), and I'd bet they be able to tell you over the phone within a few minutes.

If you can get the car down to their Buckingham HQ, they'd probably be able to plug summat in and check too.
