Watch out for octavia vRS's.Especially unmarked ones;)

Blown away but most powerful petrol cars, it's a diesel not a racecar

Not what the man in the shop said to me though:mad: taking it back tomorrow.Sale of Goods Act and all that

Although Re-mapped they can sure suprise a few people :D

:P

It's fun in midrange, not from a standstill ;) - in the case of midrange pull it's pretty darn fast. When you get to silly speeds above NSL things get worse again due to running out of gears LOL

Especially on the M3:eek:

Don't go up against anything bigger than a moped then you'll not be disappointed it's a diesel.

Especially on the M3:eek:

Funny you should say that I daily drive a silver octavia up the M27 & M3.

If you stick to exactly 70, people crawl past you then hammer away when they are well past you :)

 - can't imagine why that would happen

What???

It's fun playing with the BMW drivers and boy ricers ;) :orb_angel

Especially since i give my mate a lift to work so there are two bloke sat in the front of a silver octy doing exactly 70 :)

I find it most ammusing when they go past you and then when they speed up you do too they slow right down again :D

Ahh the fun you can have in a skoda :P

By the way if it's you that i see most mornings at about 8-9:30am in various skodas sat in traffic jams say hello :D

Oh and relevant to the original post, top gear did a mini cooper (posibly S) vs the vRS and the vRS won :D

Not an S, it was a regular cooper. Comparable pricing to buy them new, the Cooper S costs too much to be a reasonable comparison. It unsurprisingly outhandled the standard fabia but just didn't have the power to beat it.

I'd be curious to see a well sorted (eibachs, ARBs, TT brakes and remapped etc) Fabia against the Cooper S - then you'd have comparable price tags and balls-out performance from both of them :D

A remapped Furb might beat a Cooper S if that's left alone, thing is you can also tune those up very nicely & then I'm not so sure :D

Either way, it will be fun trying  (within posted limits etc etc :P )

I really think if it's off the lights, any slightly-tuned respectable petrol car will gain on you. As has been said, the mid-range punch is awesome on the furby, but it's heavy to get going and standing starts are not it's forte.

Also, when you go above NSL, the aerodynamics really come into effect and the furby's no better than a brick.

Please play nice on this topic - it's been dealt to death and some people take things a little too seriously and it ends up being a slagging-off contest ;)

edit: following Goochie's reminder too, let's hope Colin (neo_vr) either 1) doesn't spot this thread or 2) is in a remarkably good mood :D

Im confused by my fabia vRS I seem to find the opposite when Im doing a proper test with another car

I find the fabia vRS has a really good start and can get off the line better than most things but once ya need to change to 3rd i.e. at about 30 - 40mph it all goes down hill and you get your **** whipped

also I think having Goodyear tyres and heavy engine over the tyres is good for getting the traction down for a good start

so actually this might show that these test are actually not down to the car but the quality of your tyres and how good the grip is

cars tested (friends and work Colleges):

Hyundi coupe 2.0 (sport model)) new and old (old model was quicker close contest short distance)

Saxo VTR (Thrashed)

Lexus GS300 (3.0 sport model 200bhp R Reg) just beat (automatic)

1.8 Tyota Celica S reg (reeeeally slow)

Vauxhall Fronteira 3.2 equall comparison

Sierra 2.0 (my old car, Could be a close contest but Skoda just unless I been improving)

and cars that thrashed me when i was trying (and they probably wern't)

Nissan 350Z once i needed 3rd gear

most bikes once i needed 3rd gear again

Scooby WRX (I must have been standing still compared to them)

(I bet I start Something now)

My car can beat all you boyracers in your Fabia vRS's!!!

Erm, not meant to say what cars you can beat on here btw ;)

That ties in nicely with Jonny5ive's performance against my car on the airfield

nah Jonny5ive wasn't trying then

You gotta really slow car :P

even mine would beat it up to 100 ....... metres/h :D

Mine can. But i don't care, i don't buy a car so i can 'beat' others. I buy a car to drive and the best time/place to do that is on empty country roads.:cool:
