Alarm sounding after connecting new battery

Featured Replies

Any help appreciated!

I had to fit a new battery after the previous one died, when i connected the terminals the alarm went off and wont disarm but the car will still start. I had to pull the fuse for the alarm system to stop annoying the neighbours. Everytime i fit the fuse back in the alarm sounds.

How old is the car? The alarm battery can fail over six years old. Others on here have reported that one sign of a failing alarm battery is the alarm coming on without cause

I am suggesting that when the main battery was disconnected, the alarm had to use its own battery and this finally killed it.

Another possibility is that the switch on the bonnet still thinks the bonnet is open, which sets off the alarm continuously. Check around to see what you can find in this area or have a scan done for faults. I can't remember which models show bonnet open on the car door display on the dashboard.

Can I suggest you update your details in your profile to show model, year, engine size and engine code etc. so we may help you more easily with future queries.
