Delta 6 head unit

Featured Replies

Thinking about head units again. Current set up is the standard symphony CD player with a VW 6 CD changer unit mounted under neath. It works pretty well but now and again the CD player won't play. It's an old unit I got for a couple of quick. I like this set up but was thinking of a complete unit instead of the 2 separates. After a bit of research I've found that in Europe VW fitted a unit called the Delta 6. It would / should fit as it's a standard double din. I've found plenty of info except if it's a 6 CD unit or if it needs to be hooked up to a changer unit. I know that in the US it was called the Monsoon delta 6 but had a tape player and a single CD.

Any one have info?

I know the aerial will need an converter, can get these from eBay.

What are your aims for the headunit?

Are you trying for stock-a-like? a 6CD changer? Ability to talk to modern tech? Single vs double din? etc.

Yep trying to stay stock. I'm not a big down loader or storage music user and have a huge CD collection. I was after an alternative to what I already have. One problem I have with modern HU is the display. I wear glasses for reading not driving. In the fabia stock HU has larger fonts on the buttons and is less complicated to use so I don't wear my glasses.

From the few topics I've seen on TDIClub, implication is it's a SINGLE CD, no MP3 h/u that can connect to a 6 disk changer.

As I thought. I've been reading is the same kinda thing. My current set up may have had a reprieve. Mate of mine who had an Octavia came over last night and he said he had the old changer left over from a HU upgrade.

So this morning I've taken the VW one out, sorted out some messy wiring up and fitted a genuine Skoda changer. It burst into life with no apparent issues. I'll see what happens. Seems to fit better even though they look the same apart from where the wiring enters then unit.

Thanks guys either way.
