Brake and reverse lights out!!!!!!

Featured Replies

My brake and reverse lights have both gone! Not sure why as they were working this morning with no problems. The boot reverse light is still working. Indicators and lights are working! Skoda fabia 2001 1.4 anyone experienced this and is it worth the fella doing the repair or taking it to a garage!

Boot reverse light?  I assume you mean boot brake light.

Start with the basics. Have you checked the bulbs?

Ha sorry yes the boot brake light! I now know the reverse switch needs replacing as ive had a someone bridge a conection but the brake lights are still out!

Sounds like the brake switch may have failed, it's pretty common.

Thanks i will have a look at that aswell!

Is it just the high level brake light or all 3? If all three then probably your brake pedal switch. Start with the basics first check your fuses and and bulbs.

would be the bulbs id imagine then. Not unusual to have both go at similar time as they always come on together.

Ty im just on my way to get bulbs

Same for headlight bulbs, both my fabia and my wife's they blew the same time. Although mine was day time in summer my wife's night time in winter on an unlit road.

All fixed! The reverse switch had gone so it blew the brake bulbs! 4 quid from halfords and 13 quid for a reverse switch! Only problem is now the gearbox has lost alot of oil so need to top that up! Bloody fabia!

Glad you're almost sorted, but the reverse switch failing did not cause the brake light bulbs to fail, they did that all by themselves.

Ha just me assuming that then! But after reading alot on this subjrct it seems to be a common problem with the fabia!
